Koel made her debut as an actress in the Bengali movie Nater Guru, which was directed by Haranath Chakraborty and released in 2003. As a result of her work in her first film, she was honoured with the title of Best Actor in Leading Role Female at the 4th Annual Tele Cine Awards in the year 2004. After that, she made her debut on television by appearing in an episode of the discussion programme Katha O Kahini, which was shown on Star Jalsha. The next year, in 2013, she became a co-host on the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa alongside Remo D’Souza. This show was shown on ETV Bangla.
