In 2006 marked the beginning of her career as a shooter, and she has since been a member of both the national junior and senior teams. In addition to that, she is a member of the Patiala Club. She began shooting as a means to improve her chances of being accepted into dentistry school. She competed in the ISSF World Cup in Beijing in 2009, where she was awarded the silver medal, and she also triumphed at a national championship held in Kerala, where she was awarded first place in the women’s 10 metre air pistol competition.
At the 2010 Asian Games held in Guangzhou, China, she competed in the women’s 10 metre air pistol team event. Along with Annu Raj Singh and Sonia Rai, she earned the silver medal in this competition. In the women’s 10-meter air pistol women’s pairs competition at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, Sidhu and Singh won the gold medal, and she earned the silver medal in the women’s singles competition. She participated in the women’s 10-meter air pistol event at the Summer Olympics held in London in 2012, however she ended up finishing 12th in the qualification round. The Summer Olympics were hosted in London.
In addition to this, she appeared in a video about the London Olympic Games titled First: The Story of the London 2012 Olympic Games. She defeated the world champion Zorana Arunovic of Serbia and Olena Kostevych of Ukraine to win the gold medal at the ISSF World Cup Finals in Munich, Germany in 2013. Her score of 203.8 points was good enough to win her the gold medal. She triumphed in the women’s 10-meter air pistol competition at the Commonwealth Shooting Championships in Brisbane in 2017, taking home the gold medal. In the year 2018, she competed in the Commonwealth Games’ women’s 10-meter air pistol event and won the silver medal. She then went on to win the gold medal in the 25-meter air pistol event for women. The Arjuna Award was bestowed upon the recipients by Sidhu on August 28th, 2014.
