Dipa Karmakar is an Indian artistic gymnast. She became the first Indian female gymnast to ever win the bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games after she earned it for the first time in the 2014 competition in Glasgow. Since then, she has gone on to become the first Indian gymnast overall to win the medal. Recently, she competed in the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup, which took place in Mersin, Turkey, in July 2018, and she came away with the gold medal.

She began training in gymnastics at the age of six, and her parents, Soma and Bisweshwar Nandi, served as her coaches. When she first begins training in gymnastics, she has flat feet, an unfavourable physical characteristic that would negatively impact her performance. After that, as a result of her rigorous training, she eventually acquired an arch in her foot. She won the Junior Nationals in Jalpaiguri in the year 2008, and since 2007, she has won over 77 medals overall, including 67 gold, in various state, national, and international competitions. Her most recent victory came in 2008. In addition, she was a member of the Indian gymnastics team that competed at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010, which were hosted in that city.
