As early as the age of four, Harini was instructed by Gowri and Radha Viswanathan in the art of Carnatic music. After that, she received her education from Sudha Raghunathan, and she is now receiving her education from Suguna Purushotthaman. If it weren’t for music, she would have been interested in learning how to use computers, and she stated in an interview that she would have completed her master’s degree in computer applications. Nevertheless, when she was in school, her goal was to become a chartered accountant. When Harini was still in school, she was a very involved student who participated in all of the contests.
She ended up winning one of these competitions, and A. R. Rahman personally presented the prize money and asked her and the other winners to his recording studio to record their vocals. After that, Suhasini Maniratnam gave her a call and asked her to sing Nila Kaigirathu for her very first film, Indira. It was her very first song, and she was just 15 years old when she sang it. Since then, she has been inundated with proposals from a wide variety of music directors all around the South Indian region. She has performed over 2000 film songs and countless album tracks, the most of which are in the Tamil language, throughout the course of her remarkable career that has spanned over two decades. Fans recognise Harini for the many hits she has had as a vocalist and for the long number of Telugu songs she has recorded.
